Governmental Experts and NGOs Representatives of 8 Region Countries will come to Tehran


“Regional Training and Consultation on Amphetamine Type Stimulants (ATS) Management” will be held at the Iranian Center for International Conferences (ICIC) in Tehran-Iran on 8 to 10 February 2015.

According to ADNA network public relations, representatives from Afghanistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will attend this training meeting, some of whom are drug-related state experts of their country of origin and some NGOs activists. In the meeting, some members of Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC) will also participate.

In the opening ceremony, officials from International and Iranian organisations will feature. Mr. Alireza Jazini, the deputy secretary general of Drug Control Headquarters; Mr. Homayoun Hashemi, the head of Iranian State Welfare Organization; Mr. Leik Boonwaat, UNODC representative in Iran; Mr. Esbjorn Hornberg, the chair of VNGOC; Mr. Abbas Deilamizade, the chairperson of Asian DDR/HR NGOs Association (ADNA) network will lecture.

The present workshop is conducted with the aim of training national and NGOs experts of member countries of ADNA network.

The workshop participants will be trained in the field of drug treatment and rehabilitation of Amphetamine -type Stimulants (ATS). In this context, the main

  • Overview of ATS use: history, effects, adversities and harms
  • General considerations in managing ATS patients
  • Needle and syringe programmes in ATS harm reduction
  • Condom promotion programmes

After the meeting, it is expected that the participants obtain basic information on initiating ATS harm reduction services in their country of origin. The workshops are going to be held in Farsi language and simultaneous interpretations will be presented in English and Russian.

During this training workshop, moreover, it is aimed that two consultative meetings be held in which the board members of ADNA will discuss future plans of the network as well as solutions to Amphetamine Type Stimulants (ATS) harm reduction in the region.

This event is jointly supported by ADNA, Drug Control Headquarters, Iranian State Welfare Organization, and UNDOC.
